ATS PAYS SAFETY BONUSES FOR FIRST QUARTER, 2005
Anderson Trucking Service paid out $93,500 in safety bonuses to ATS Drivers, Contractors and Contractor Drivers for the first quarter of 2005, as part of the Safety Award program, which began on October 1, 2004. An additional $100,000 was paid for the 4th quarter 2004, for a total of $193,500 for the two quarters.

In October, 2004 ATS established a safety incentive based on a driver performance. This safety incentive plan replaced all other safety award programs. As a part of this program, a “Hot List” of drivers who had events, which required Department of Transportation involvement in the last six months is being maintained by the Safety Department. A driver is on this Hot List if he/she had one of the following in that period of time:

DOT Reportable Accident (an accident with an injury requiring the injured person to be Transported to a care facility, requiring one or more vehicles to be towed or a fatality).
Driver Out of Service during a roadside inspection.
Jumping Out of Service Order (leaving inspection site prior to expiration of Out of Service)
Two or more separate citations or two or more violations on one citation.
Any driver on the hot list will stay on the hot list for a period of six months.

Also, during that period of time, that driver’s logs undergo additional scrutinizing by the safety department. ATS also monitors drivers with an unacceptable amount of 11, 14 or 70 hour violations, or an unacceptable amount of missing or false logs.

As an incentive for driving accident free, having good roadside inspections and accurate logs, any driver not on the “Hot List” or being monitored for hours of service violations during a month is given a check in the amount of $50 for each of the first two months of a quarter

Any driver who has not been on the “Hot List” or being monitored for hours of service violations during the last month of a full calendar and has taken the Quarterly Safety Training at some time during that quarter receives $50 for the last month on that calendar quarter. This would allow ATS certified drivers to earn up to $150 per quarter in safety incentives.

Any driver on the “Hot List” will remain there for six calendar months, and would not be eligible for the either of the incentives during that period of time. Any driver being monitored for hours of service violations would remain ineligible for this safety incentive until violations are reduced.

A driver on the Hot List or being monitored for HOS violations will be counseled in a three to four step process if violations are found. If hours of service compliance is not achieved during this period of time, disciplinary action up to and including termination will occur.

As a policy, ATS will not knowingly accept false reports of record of duty status (395.8). Any false logs will be returned to the appropriate driver for correction and submission. Missing logs will directly affect a driver’s ability to get paid.

In addition to the above awards, drivers with one million ATS safe miles will receive an ATS Million Mile Ring. Drivers with no chargeable accidents, incidents or claims for a full calendar year will receive an ATS safety pin and patch.

TRANSPORT FOR CHRIST, REACHES DRIVERS
Transport for ChristTransport for Christ (TFC), International is an organization dedicated to reaching, supporting and encouraging drivers. TFC places permanent chapels with fully trained chaplains at sites in North America. TFC also has a fleet of Mobile Chapels, which visit trucks stops throughout America. Their mission is to win truck drivers to Jesus Christ and teach them to grow in their faith. During 2003, more than 42,500 drivers walked through the doors of TFC chapels. 458 of them made a first time commitment to Jesus Christ, and thousands more were strengthened and encouraged in their faith. TFC has active ministries at 30 truck stops across North America. In additional, there are three chapels operating in Moscow, Russia. The goal of TFC is that no trucker should have to drive more than a day without being able to find a TFC Mobile Chapel. For more information regarding Transport for Christ and their chapel locations, go to their website at www.transportforchrist.org, e-mail them at tfcio@transportforchrist.org, or call them at (717) 859-4870.
